Lake Superior Community Health Center

Project Details:

In 2021, ICS was hired to provide comprehensive planning and project representation services for the new Lake Superior Community Health Clinic. This project featured 12 new exam rooms, a new visitor entrance and check-in area, a patient waiting room, a children’s playroom, additional offices and admin spaces, fully functional nurses’ stations, a single isolation room, and a state-of-the-art dental wing. From supplying dental services to physical exams and mental wellness experts, the clinic will serve as a one-stop-shop for residents to gain medical attention for both physical and mental health.

This project is also part of a greater vision for the economic development of Superior, Wisconsin. Located in the heart of the community, the clinic will serve as a hub for the community, allowing patients and residents to utilize the new bus transportation stop immediately outside the clinic to gain access to the facility, as well as other surrounding businesses.

While the project did face challenges due to inflation, shortage of materials, and a tight project development timeline, all constructability issues were managed through constant communication between ICS, the contractor, and Lake Superior Community Health Center. This allowed the ICS team to make any necessary scheduling changes resulting in an on-time completed project in January 2022.

The IMPACT

“For 50 years LSCHC has been rooted in community, dedicated to providing access to quality health care for all patients, regardless of insurance or income. Annually, we serve approximately 11,000 patients (totaling over 40,000 patient visits). The innovative new clinic facility in Superior, WI exemplifies our commitment and investment in the communities we serve. In this new space, we can welcome more patients across all clinical service lines, engage with our neighborhood, employ additional staff, and offer a safe and welcoming gathering space for all.”— Tanya Bourdeau, Lake Superior Community Health Center Project Manager
