Yanmar Arena – City of Grand Rapids

Project Details:

The IRA Civic Center, now named Yanmar Arena, has been a historic venue for decades. Over the years, the facility was improved and expanded as local programs grew, such as hockey, figure skating, and various community events.

Originally built in 1968, the facility is transformed. With a new roof over the west arena and lobby area, a new state-of-the-art ice plant and ice sheet, improved meeting rooms, an enhanced concessions area, ADA compliance improvements, parking lot upgrades, and HVAC enhancements, the newly renovated Yanmar Arena brings new life to the local Grand Rapids area. The facility reflects the rich hockey culture and leaves a lasting impact on the community for generations to come. These renovations were funded through $5 million in state bond dollars and the remainder through a half-percent sales tax approved by local voters in 2018.

The ICS team provided program management, construction management, and technical services for this exciting project.
