Staples-Motley Public Schools “The Nest”

Staples-Motley Public Schools “The Nest” Project Details:

Part of a collaborative effort with Lakewood Health System, Staples-Motley Public Schools and the surrounding community now have access to “The Nest” – an activities and wellness center to support students and residents. Its theme of “Powered by Purpose” reflects a shared purpose between the district and Lakewood.

Approximately 14,000 square feet of space was added to the existing 6,700 square-foot gymnasium at Staples-Motley Middle/High School and now provides space for a variety of wellness opportunities. The main level includes a multi-purpose room, additional gymnasium space, new bleachers and bathrooms, administrative office area, storage, and a new entrance that seamlessly ties into the facility’s existing lobby. The upper level includes a walking track, fitness rooms, community locker rooms, changing rooms and showers, weight room, and an athletic training space dedicated to student athletes. Apart from the athletic training area, these facilities will be accessible to the local community.

Approved by the school board in 2021, additional improvements included HVAC improvements and exterior improvements at both the elementary and middle/high school, asbestos abatement and parking lot replacements at both schools, renovations to the elementary school to serve Early Education through 5th grade students, and renovations to the cafeteria, kitchen, and music classroom at the elementary.

ICS is proud to provide project development, construction management, and technical services for this future-thinking project in the Staples-Motley community.
