St. Francis Area Schools Project Details:
In November 2017, residents of ISD 15 (St. Francis Area Schools) approved a $80.06 million building bond referendum that addressed critical deferred maintenance and physical facility needs, improved district-wide safety, security, and accessibility, and enhanced educational spaces and learning environments. A comprehensive long-range facilities plan led to a data-driven referendum that will impact students, staff, and the community for generations to come.
Specific improvements include:
- Francis Elementary School: 10 new classrooms were added to address the district’s growing enrollment, and various renovations were made to help modernize the facility, including mechanical, electrical, and fire suppression improvements, enhanced security features, traffic flow improvements, and more. In addition, 4th – 5th-grade students were moved from St. Francis Middle School to this facility to enhance their learning environment with similar-aged students.
- East Bethel Elementary School: New classroom pods were added along with adjacent breakout spaces to support collaborative learning and flexibility. Additional improvements include enhanced visibility, increased natural daylight, modern finishes, a redesigned media center, an improved main office and secured entrance, upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, built‑in classroom storage, operable walls in tech suites, centralized staff amenities, and site changes to improve traffic flow and safety.
- Cedar Creek Elementary School: Various renovations were made to this facility, including a transformed entrance and administrative spaces; a new STEM/exploratory lab to enhance hands-on learning; a redesigned media center; improved instructional spaces; a dedicated Kids Connection space; and improved areas to support Special Education and center-based programs.
- Early Childhood Family Center: Improvements include a dedicated, secure entrance; enhanced administrative space; new finishes; updated restrooms; a dedicated Kids Connection space; and relocation of the staff lounge. In addition, two portable classrooms were removed, and the programming was integrated into the building.
